Eric Johnson (born August 17, 1954) is an American guitarist, vocalist, and composer, widely regarded as one of the most respected guitarists of his generation. His 1990 album “Ah Via Musicom” was certified platinum, and its single “Cliffs of Dover” won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Johnson has developed a distinctive style that blends a wide range of genres, including rock, blues, jazz fusion, soul, folk, new-age, classical, and country. In addition to his renowned electric guitar work, he is also proficient on acoustic, lap steel, and resonator guitar, as well as bass, piano, and vocals.
